Left or Right - Not Sure
- Remove OMC stern drive unit
- Place a line with a black marker on the intermediate housing steering gear.
- Turn the steering wheel clock-wise
- Check to see the direction the steering gear turned.
- Goes right you need upper gear case with right hand worm gear ( 7 D and 5 D ) are numbers on the two I checked.
- Goes left you need upper gear case with left hand worm gear ( WN19 / 262 )is number on the one I checked.
- OMC Marine Tru-Coarse Steering may have a left or right handed worm gear inside
- Items shown in pictures are from a right hand worm gear
